The Harvest Youth Board is dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for the youth of Martinsville-Henry County through health, education and community initiatives.
Over the years, the Harvest Youth Board has created and continued our two incredible signature events. We love being able to get out and spend time in our community!
For two years, the pandemic forced things to look a little different. By the end of 2021, we were eager to gather the community together again! During a meeting, the Youth Board brainstormed ways to focus on literacy and came up with a brilliant idea...Books & Bunnies was born!
We envisioned a fun event where everyone could come for a fun time and walk away with a free book. We had a blast at the inaugural Books & Bunnies event in 2022, and we look forward to seeing everyone again for years to come!
In 2016, the first HYB Thanksgiving Eve Dinner was held. The original board and the first graduating group of seniors returned and were able to serve over 1704 meals to citizens of Martinsville-Henry County.
In 2017, the HYB named the dinner after, Dr. Dan Prince, a local physician who served on the inaugural Harvest Foundation Board of Directors, who passed away in June of 2017. The Youth Board chose to name the dinner the W. Dan Prince III Thanksgiving Eve Dinner in his honor.
