“This week my students enjoyed activities centered around the book, The Mitten. We counted and measured using mittens, reviewed colors with mittens, graphed our favorite (mittens or gloves), and read and retold the story using animal figurines. The students were thrilled when they learned they were taking home their very own copy of The Mitten - thanks to Racquets for Reading!!!”

“Through the generosity of The Harvest Foundation and QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia, our students were able to receive books to add to their home library in December 2022. Each student received seven books in a specially designed "Let's Read Together" tote bag. Each set was a little different, but included books such as: "I Promise" by LeBron James, "Berenstain Bears," "I Need My Monster", "The Kissing Hand", "Snow Day" and various other classic children's books. Our students were elated to receive their books and went straight to their reading carpet to "read" their new books. On behalf of the students, staff and families of Clearview Early Learning Center, we would like to say Thank You once again for giving our students the opportunity to expand their home libraries and develop a life-long love for reading.” Gina Pruitt, Preschool teacher

“Henry County “Racquets for Reading!!! giveaway is GREAT! I love it because it inspires my students to have a love for reading and it instills a love for books. It creates a home library for my students as well, and they love it. As you can see from our photo collages, my parents thoroughly enjoy reading bedtime stories and having quality time with their child.”

“Henry County Thanks so much for the grant to buy books for my preschool students to take home. We have enjoyed each book we received so far this year. After reading the books and participating in some activities related to the book, my students are so excited to take the book home. I have attached a picture of our most recent book, The Mitten. As you can see, we all made mittens and practiced putting our animals in the mitten in the correct order. Thanks again!” Kim Robertson, Preschool Teacher

“Henry County Thank you all so much for the Scholastic Books. My children always enjoy receiving new books to take home. Although I have not received any feedback from parents, I am confident that they are grateful for your generous donations. Here are a few pictures of children with one of their books. I will send other pictures as more books are distributed. Again, Thank you so much for your generosity,”

“Thank you so much for the books for the kids. We have enough to give them one every month and they are loving the gifts! We read them together in a small group before sending them home to add to their home libraries. Several parents have expressed their appreciation for the kind gesture.”
